چکیده
Engineering a material's work function is of central importance for many technologies and in particular electron emitters used high-power vacuum electronics thermionic energy converters. A low surface typically achieved through unstable functional species, especially high power emitter applications. Discovering engineering new materials with intrinsic, stable functions obtainable without volatile species would mark definitive advancement the design emitters. This reports evidence existence on bulk, monolithic, electrically conductive perovskite oxide: SrVO3. After considering patch field effect heterogeneous emitting bulk polycrystalline samples, this study suggests presence (≈2 eV) emissive grains SrVO3 surface. Emission current densities 10–100 mA cm–2 at ≈1000 °C, comparable to commercial LaB6 cathodes, indicative an overall effective 2.3–2.7 eV are obtained. demonstrates that perovskites like may have intrinsically commercialized W-based dispenser cathodes that, further engineering, represent class

Vibrationally promoted electron emission from low work-function metal surfaces.
We observe electron emission when vibrationally excited NO molecules with vibrational state v, in the range of 9 < or = v < or =18, are scattered from a Cs-dosed Au surface. The quantum efficiency increases strongly with v, increasing up to 10(-2) electrons per NO (v) collision, a value several orders of magnitude larger than that observed in experiments with similar molecules in the ground vib...

Introduction Thermionic cathodes are used in many industrial vacuum electronic applications. Vacuum tubes for high-frequency or high-power applications are one example (e.g., see [1]). The emission properties of thermionic electron sources in vacuum devices are often Bimproved[ by the addition of oxide coatings on the metal cathode surface [2, 3]. The explanation of the improvement is usually b...
